Excel
presents the
Creative Arts

As creative creatures of the Creator, we are called to be conscious of the necessity for living artistically, aesthetically, and articulately. To dive into beauty is to let our thoughts be sublimed by the Spirit of God. This is why we do what we do.

FOUNDATIONS

The Call of the Creative

At Excel, we believe that Christians should be the most creative people on the planet, because we are connected to and in relationship with the One who created the cosmos. The Lord has urged and given humanity the free will to create, be fruitful, multiply, subdue, and rule. This is a lot of why we do what we do.

We believe that part of the process in making wise, mature, and productive adults is understanding who God really is, and in-turn learning more about our identity as unique humans - made in His image and likeness. Understanding these truths, creativity wells up from within, and trumpets the stories and revelations through many mediums.

FUNCTIONs

Holistic Integration

Our heart is to practically help unlock, develop, and bolster one’s creative skills and talents, and spiritually continue to build the character needed to sustain a flourishing life in the creative space. The Creative Arts serves Excel in these ways through all our initiatives in many different capacities.

Academy

Education Beyond the Classroom

Our Creative Arts is integrated within the Academy in the Arts & Activities program. Arts and Activities cultivates character development and biblical values in kids ages 4-14 through having fun, trying new things, and encouraging creativity! There is a plethora of mediums for the parents and children to choose from! Some of our own students and community members lead these children’s classes.

College

Education Beyond a Degree

One of the main ways our Creative Arts integrates into our Excel community is through our ‘practicum’ phase. This is the second phase of the curriculum that is personalized to each individual in the field of their choice. For many, that is in a creative field. We place people under an experienced mentor in the art medium to apprentice the student with hands-on experience.

Institute

Coming Soon

Our instructors and artists will provide a plethora of opportunities with our continuing education programs. From full courses to niched classes, the creative arts will have lots to offer for adults in the greater community. You can get a certificate, grow your hobby into a side-gig, or learn something brand new!

THE RESIDENTIAL FLOORS

The top two floors will provide a residential context that will house many students and artisans-in-residence with a large dining room, living room, and kitchen. The main level will also have a lofted 1,150 sq. foot great room for a vast array of uses including gatherings, classes, showcases, etc. This great room will also open up to a large deck with garage doors, providing an indoor-outdoor feel, providing even more usable space and a calming atmosphere as the deck will overlook a small creek and undisturbed, natural landscape.

FAMILY
As Christians, we should be the most creative people on the planet because we are connected to the Creator. Creativity is in our DNA, whether you tend towards the creative or not. One of our goals here at Excel is to cultivate and call out the creative in people because it can actually unlock treasures of who you are, bringing revelation to identity. Creativity then, is just the overflow of knowing who the Lord is and who you are, and actually trumpeting that revelation through different mediums.
Austin Smith, Creative Arts Director
In my experience, Excel is the clearest expression of how I believe Christ intended His Body (The Church) to live and breathe. I find it a great challenge to describe this community in words, for I believe it would be as futile as explaining color to a world that only knew black and white.
Khristian Vinca, Creative Marketing Coordinator
FLOURISHING

Calling Out The Creative

The creative arts are an overflow of our identity, trumpeting who God made us to be and expressing that through our unique giftings. At Excel, we are creating an environment where creatives get to explore who God has made them to be and grow into their creative expressions.

It is true that all men are created in the image of God, but Christians are supposed to be conscious of that fact and being conscious of it should recognize the importance of living artistically, aesthetically, and creatively, as creative creatures of the Creator. If we have been created in the image of an Artist, then we should look for expressions of artistry, and be sensitive to beauty, responsive to what has been created for us.

The Hidden Art of Homemaking

In art, the Trinity is expressed in the Creative Idea, the Creative Energy, and the Creative Power—the first imagining of the work, then the making incarnate of the work, and third the meaning of the work.
